About us

LIGHT – Lifescience Innovation Good Healthcare Technology – is a new technological infrastructure for operational innovation in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Biopharmaceuticals, and Digital Health Care. It was established by the University of Brescia in collaboration with companies Dompè Farmaceutici S.p.A., an Italian leader in the biopharmaceutical sector, and Antares Vision Group, an Italian multinational leader in traceability and quality control of products and supply chains. LIGHT is a no-profit initiative, based on a public-private partnership that has raised €10 million in funds, receiving support from the Ministry of University and Research through the PNRR Innovation Infrastructure Grant.

Research

From theory to practice: a multidisciplinary effort

LIGHT Center develops advanced technologies for the Hospital of the Future and people’s well-being within a comprehensive and compliant design framework. Its activities are organized around three core areas: AI Biopharma, AI & Big Data, and Digital Healthcare.

AI & Big Data applies advanced AI techniques to biological and biomedical data, including imaging, to support basic research and precision medicine. Digital Healthcare focuses on telemedicine and digital therapeutics, developing solutions for more accessible, effective, and patient-centered care. AI Biopharma is dedicated to the design, development, and characterization of new drugs through complementary computational and experimental approaches.

Based in Brescia, LIGHT serves as a reference center for the development of AI systems for healthcare, supporting researchers and companies in the design, validation, and certification of AI-based medical solutions, in compliance with the AI Act and medical device regulations.
